The road rage incident was sparked on the A614 in Ollerton
A raging driver put a young child at risk when he repeatedly tried to ram a car off the road in Nottinghamshire. after Christopher Goode dangerously pulled out of a petrol station, causing another motorist to swerve onto the wrong side of the road.
The 35-year-old then sped up towards the vehicle, drove right up to the bumper and performed an overtake round a bend in the road. Goode, from Mansfield Woodhouse, then swerved in front of the other car – which had a young child on board – colliding with the side of the vehicle in the process. The other driver was forced to swerve onto a grass verge before an argument ensued. Goode got out of his vehicle and threatened the man with violence before being arrested at 7.30pm on May 1, last year.PC Haddon Smith, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit, said: “The poor standard of driving demonstrated by Goode on that evening was incredibly dangerous and put all those on the roads with him at risk.
“Over the next few minutes, he made multiple attempts to re-overtake the vehicle and seemingly tried to run them off the road, despite a young child being in that car at the time." Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, February 20, Goode pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, using threatening words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of unlawful violence, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance.
Goode, of Vale Road, was sentenced to one year and ten months in prison. He was also disqualified from driving for two years and five months, at which point he will then have to pass an extended driving test.
