Israel Bachar, Counsul General of Israel to the Pacific Southwest also provided remarks. “We’re here to support Israel because it shares fundamental democratic values,” he added. “We are here because this fight is our fight. It’s a fight for civilization versus chaos.”
Later, in West Los Angeles, hundreds of people gathered outside the federal building on Wilshire Boulevard in a show of support for Israel, waving Israeli and U.S. flags and drawing support from some motorists who honked their horns as they drove by. Goldfarb added: “We mourn the largest tragedy to the Jewish people since the Holocaust. … We mourn the tremendous loss of innocent lives and tremble to think of the hostages who have been taken. We pray for their safety.”
