Ramona Bulldogs force five turnovers in home shutout of Christian Patriots
In a dominating performance, Ramona High forced five Christian turnovers — three interceptions, two fumble recoveries — and cruised by Christian 28-0 in the season opener.
Baldwin was also pleased with the play of senior quarterback Colin Lester, who played linebacker last season as Devin Sobczak led the Bulldogs to the playoffs.“We had three quarterback candidates at the start of spring ball,” Baldwin said. “All three got 500 snaps in 7-on-7. Colin emerged as the guy.”
“I played quarterback all through Pop Warner. I was the JV quarterback, but I knew Devin could help the team more than I could. So I was OK with playing defense.”The Bulldogs drove 71 yards on 14 plays on the first drive of the season, scoring on a Lester 2-yard run.
