NEW ORLEANS — Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford uncorked a sensational touchdown bomb to second-year wide receiver Tutu Atwell. That was the good part of the Rams’ day against the New Orleans Saints, and a little too late for those two to finally connect downfield.
Stafford left the game early to be evaluated for a concussion, two days after being cleared to play because he spent the past two weeks in the concussion protocol. Backup quarterback Bryce Perkins finished the Rams’ latest loss, a 27-20 setback at the Caesars Superdome. Dalton delivered a standout performance and had a sensational 53-yard touchdown pass to rookie receiver Chris Olave in the third quarter to extend New Orleans’ lead to 24-14.
Stafford executed an 11-play, 87-yard scoring drive in the final three minutes of the first half, which was capped by a six-yard touchdown throw to Allen Robinson for the four-point lead.
