BT Sport is no more, having officially been rebadged as TNT Sports, and they’ve now announced their all-changed brand-new presenting, punditry and commentary line-up. And a lot of it looks quite a lot like BT Sport.
Darren Fletcher remains as lead commentator, ensuring TNT Sports’ coverage of the Premier League and Champions League will have all the gravitas of a Red Bull Soapbox Race. We think McCoist could be good for him. These are all familiar figures for BT viewers, but there’s a clear first team and squad demarcation there, isn’t there? Didn’t need to be, but they’ve done it anyway. No word of a press release of this importance is placed there by accident so you know Ferdinand, Crouch and Cole are the A-list and we are childishly delighted to see Owen and Savage in particular demoted to ‘will include’.
His performance in the closing stages of West Ham’s Conference final win was immensely irritating. He spent the whole of injury time after Jarrod Bowen’s goal shouting “WEST HAM ARE MASSIVE, EVERYWHERE THEY GO” whenever the ball crossed the halfway line. It was bizarre, until you realised that what he was doing was attempting to make sure he timed one of those outbursts to coincide with the final whistle for future highlight reels.
