Emergency management officials are warning that vistors descending on Greater Cleveland for next year's total solar eclipse will likely mean traffic jams that could last for hours.
Cleveland will be in the path of totality when it experiences a total eclipse on April 8, 2024.CLEVELAND, Ohio – School districts are always prepared to call off school if a snow storm or sub-zero temperatures make it difficult or dangerous to hold classes.
The last time a total solar eclipse visited the United States, there were reports out of Tennessee – which experienced the path of totality - of traffic jams lasting for hours. Residents are also encouraged to “stock up on gas and groceries leading up to the eclipse so they do not have to go out and about in the traffic,” she stated, and visitors are urged to “arrive early and stay late” to avoid everyone being on the road at once.
Parma City School District is also taking precautions and canceling schools for the day. District spokeswoman Megan Cooney said concerns range from stalled buses, students walking home from school among the congestion and unsupervised students looking at the sun when they shouldn’t be.
