A poll created by Northants Live shows that people from the area don't think they're living in either the North or the South. We created the poll after a controversial map on Twitter split the county in half, with towns including Corby as part of the Midlands while Towcester and Silverstone are part of the South.
Twitter user @MichelleBayly caused fury when she shared her controversial map on Twitter earlier this month, writing: "Can we all agree that North is Leeds and above..?" Arguing "there’s also a middle…the Midlands", Michelle decided to draw the Midlands-South divide right through Northampton, essentially splitting the town and county in two.According to the map, all of North Northamptonshire Council's unitary area comes under the Midlands.
More than 225 of you responded to our original story, all giving your opinions of the age-old question on where the North and South meet. Mary Pollard argued: "We are not north we are not south hench why we are the Midlands." But there were plenty who argued otherwise. "Clue is in the name... If Southampton is in the South... Northampton is the north" was one reader's argument while Nick Gale said we are "Definitely up North."But Stuart Haugh argued: "We are the most northern bit of the south. Simple".
