Tuesday marks the 25th anniversary of the Real IRA bomb
A British Red Cross volunteer has spoken of her memories of the day when she helped a family identify one of the victims of the Omagh bombing.17-year-old shop worker Brenda Logue from Loughmacrory was one of those who was killed in the blast.Red Cross volunteer Carolyn Forster was assigned to help Brenda’s family find their loved one.
“We arranged and went there and then to Omagh, not knowing what we were going to or when we were going to be home. Carolyn added that by Sunday morning there was only a small number of the bodies left to be identified, and the coroner had said nobody could see the remains. Carolyn adds that she remains in contact with Brenda’s mother to this day, with the pair remembering a comment that Mary had made about her previous disdain for all things British.
