Reports throughout the Bay Area that several schools had been marred by school shootings Wednesday were a hoax, law enforcement officials said.
The hoaxes also occurred at McClymonds High in Oakland; Lincoln High in San Jose; Woodside High in San Mateo County; and South San Francisco High. Police and fire crews responded to an unspecified high school in Fremont.About two dozen Oakland police officers descended within a minute or two upon the McClymonds High campus in the 2600 block of Myrtle Street. They determined within minutes everything was normal.
In San Mateo County, sheriff’s deputies responded about 10:02 a.m. to Woodside High on Churchill Avenue for reports of a possible active shooter and searched the campus. Sheriff’s office Lt. Jacob Trickett in a statement said deputies found no unusual activity.
