Neighbours were asked to go indoors during the incident
A residential street was partially cordoned off by police this afternoon after a young man climbed onto a roof. Just after 3pm today, July 16, police were called to Grenfell Road in Clubmoor, near the junction with Townsend Avenue, following reports that somebody had climbed on a garage roof. Several police cars were in attendance and the road was cordoned off near the building as officers tried to negotiate with the young man. The roof was approximately eight feet high.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: 'Emergency services are currently in attendance on Townsend Avenue, in Clubmoor, following concern for the safety of a male on a roof this afternoon, Tuesday 16 July. We were called to the scene at around 3.05pm and officers have put a cordon in place as a precaution while they engage with the male. 'Thank you to all members of the public for their patience while this matter is being dealt with.
