Firefighters are still at the scene this morning
Firefighters are still at the scene of a hotel fire in Blackpool as the promenade remains closed in both directions.
The fire service sent 12 fire engines sent to the scene - including two aerial ladder platforms to douse the flames from above, a stringer and a drone unit.Pictures from the scene showed plumes of smoke rising over the Victorian promenade from the hotel. Justin Johnston QFSM, Lancashire's chief fire officer, said that at one point there had been around 70 firefighters dealing with the inferno.
Queens Promenade remains closed this morning , with firefighters still at the scene. In the latest update, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "There is 1 fire appliance and 1 aerial ladder platform in attendance. Crews will remain on scene overnight." We spoke to a resident, Jack, who lives on Empress Drive, just around the corner from the Hotel. He was in Fleetwood at the time and the bus diverted when it got closer to the incident, with the bus driver informing passengers of the fire.
