Rockets 114, Lakers 110: Kevin Porter Jr. shines, but flurry of fouls makes win a close call

The Lakers were not only without LeBron James, who missed a ninth consecutive game with a right foot injury, they held out Anthony Davis for the second half of a back-to-back. The Lakers closed within five before the Rockets got consecutive 3s, much as they did Monday when the Celtics made a similar run, this time coming from Jabari Smith Jr. rather than Usman Garuba. With 3½ minutes left, the Rockets led 104-96 and would again need to execute well enough to close out a team with much more at stake.Alperen Sengun dropped in a free throw, his first of the night, before going coast-to-coast to put the Rockets up by 11 with three minutes remaining.
Porter led the Rockets with 27 points and nine rebounds, with Martin adding 16 points on of 7-of-11 shooting. Smith had 18 points.With a steal and drive when the Rockets were walking off the final seconds of the clock, he drew a foul on Porter that was ruled a flagrant one. That gave Reaves a chance to make two free throws to cut the lead to three with three-tenths of a second left and the Lakers retaining possession.
