Local roofing experts recommend checking out a number of roof areas after a big winter storm.

However, he did say many homes with newer roofs put on by reputable companies will have ice and water shields installed to prevent that. "It pulls on the gutters causes the gutters to not be sloped in the way they are supposed to," Sherry said."Water isn't flowing in the right direction."
Unfortunately, Brady said there isn't much people can do to help their roofs and gutters once the wintry weather hits — preventive measures should happen in warmer months.
