Children of the royal family 'will not be exempt from national service', expert Charlotte Griffiths has told Mail+'s weekly programme Palace Confidential.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis 'will not be exempt from national service', a royal expert has said.
And according to Griffiths, the Prince and Princess of Wales's children, who are 10, nine and six years old, will be no exception to the rule. Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie also have young children who would be eligible to take part once they reach the age of 18, as well as Prince Edward's son James, 16.
The most recent form of compulsory national service in the UK was abolished in 1960, and required all physically fit male British citizens aged between 18 and 26 to serve in the armed forces. 'Prince William did, Prince Harry did and of course the King did. I think it is a tradition that will continue.'
