The Royal Family are said to have an array of rules that they must follow when they are out on public duty - and there is one that Kate Middleton has confirmed she must abide by.
Long-standing speculation has questioned whether they can engage in everyday gestures like hugging, taking selfies, or if royal women can sport coloured nail polish. It seems there's an unwritten rule for nearly every situation.
As Kate mingled with the children at the Royal Entomological Society's garden, identifying bugs and creating drawings, the kids sought a lasting memento and asked her to autograph their artwork, reports the Mirror. Earlier this month, however, William acknowledged he had flouted this obscure royal edict during his visit to an iconic beach in Cornwall.
Though not an official part of protocol, several royals had previously voiced their displeasure with selfies. In 2018, Prince William self-proclaimed himself to be 'allergic' to selfies, while his younger sibling Prince Harry made it known in 2015 that he detested them, urging a fan in Australia to opt for a standard photo instead.
