Victims and taxpayers deserve better than this sloppily crafted, irresponsible amendment.

The illogic of Rozzi’s wording and his lack of further explanation are indicative of the emotion he and fellow advocates are using to try to force this flawed bill through the legislature. This amendment will invite a wave of lawsuits over acts that took place 38-plus years ago. Of course we all want child sex abuse victims to receive justice for the heinous deeds committed to them. But this amendment will do more to punish innocent taxpayers by forcing them to foot the bill for serial litigation brought against public schools than it will to hold child sex abusers accountable decades later.
