had a tall order in fulfilling Rajamouli’s vision for the dance, the director says: “It should be nice, it shouldn’t bedifficult, it should suit the style of both actors, and it should be fantastic. Quite a number of instructions.” The choreographer wound up coming up with over a hundred variations of the steps, Rajamouli explains.
As for his philosophy on dance, Rajamouli says it’s “not about how acrobatic you are, how perfectly you can do your step,” adding, “There are two important things—one is that you should really, really enjoy your dance. Only then can the audience really get the enjoyment out of your dance. And the second thing is in every moment of the dance, you’re conveying something to the audience, some kind of emotion,” adding, “These two guys nailed it.
