Viktor Gyokeres has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months after an astonishing season in Portugal
Incoming Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has admitted he has no plans to sign any Sporting Clube de Portugal players when the transfer window reopens in January.
One of the questions on supporters' lips is whether Amorim would reinforce his new squad with some of the Sporting stars, with Viktor Gyokeres being one of them. However, the Portuguese manager quickly dismissed that idea in Friday's post-match press-conference following the 5-1 win over Estrela da Amadora.
"Everyone at Sporting knows how important it was for me. I understand the fans' disappointment and leaving in the middle of a season that could be historic... But today is not a farewell, we still have two important games with Man City and Braga, to maintain the lead." "What happened? I brought him to Sporting because of Ruben Amorim, because I know his work and his work with the players. I chose Ruben because he is a coach of another level.
