Fox News mogul Rupert Murdoch, 92, has reportedly called off his engagement to former dental hygienist Ann Lesley Smith, 66
Ms Smith had little public profile prior to her relationship with Mr Murdoch, thought to have begun seven months prior to their engagement when they met at an event in his California vineyard.
She is a former police chaplain, dental hygienist and model – and the widow of late country music star Chester Smith. Ms Smith inherited her late husband’s ranch in the northern Californian city of Modesto following a legal dispute with his daughters when he died following three years of marriage. It is thought Mr Murdoch proposed last month during St Patrick’s Day festivities in New York with an Asscher-cut diamond solitaire engagement ring that he “personally selected”.
Mr Murdoch has six children from his previous marriages: daughter Prudence MacLeod, now 64, with his first wife Patricia Booker, daughter Elisabeth, now 53, and sons Lachlan, now 50, and James, now 49, with his second wife Anna Mann, and daughter Grace, now 21, and Chloe, now 19, with his third wife Wendi Deng.
