Rutgers football gets 1st 2023 pledge from Washington Township OL, wrestler John Stone
junior broke out in a big way on Sunday after earning his first offer from the in-state Scarlet Knights. A 6-3, 270-pound athletic lineman with a 79.5-inch wingspan, 36-inch arms and 9.5-inch hands, Stone has good physical tools. He’s aggressive, a heavyweight wrestler, and can run for a player his size.
“It was Rutgers’ family atmosphere, proximity to home, and the mission,” Stone, a first-team all-conference left tackle, told NJ Advance Media through a text message on Tuesday. “I want to be part of the process of building Rutgers into a top team in the Big Ten. There’s a lot of talent in New Jersey and we can combine our efforts and build something special with coach Schiano.”
