Joshue Resto, Grusser’s quarterback coach at Ramapo, says Grusser is “very cerebral,” and “confident,” which he feels are the Rutgers offeree's greatest tools.
Resto values knowledge and preparation above all else when it comes to quarterbacking, the most unique job on the field.
Resto coached under New Jersey coaching legend Drew Gibbs for 15 years and still runs Gibbs’ offense, which he says Gibbs took the passing concepts from longtime college football and NFL coach Noel Mazzone, and quarterback run concepts from Urban Meyer during a sit-down with the ex-University of Utah, University of Florida, Ohio State and Jacksonville Jaguars head coach. The system that Tim Tebow and Alex Smith before him popularized … with a twist.
“He picked up the entire passing tree and understanding of the defensive coverages and the conversion routes over a two-month span from June to August,” Resto said. “He was passing all his tests with flying colors. That’s when I knew he was a Power Five guy.”“When Jack walks into a room you can just feel the confidence exuding out of him because he puts time and effort into his craft,” Resto said.
He makes quick decisions with the football allowing his offense to dictate rather than play a more reactionary style of offense. He plays with good posture and always with his eyes downfield. His decisions to run are also usually made quickly and decisively and he rarely gets caught from behind.Grusser is also efficient, accurate, throws with touch, pace, and can manipulate ball speed. He can throw the ball with finesse or with strength to get it where it needs to be, and while on the move.
