Rutgers QB signee Ajani Sheppard will enroll early, arrive this month
Sheppard is being ushered to Rutgers to run a dual-threat quarterback system, which he was told last month is the direction that Rutgers’ offense is headed in. Although he boasts Power Five tools, Sheppard is a developmental prospect and his early arrival won’t likely impact the quarterback competition at the top of the depth chart. But he will, at least, be afforded an opportunity, and get a full spring to learn new terminology, a new playbook, and the way things work in Piscataway.
Rutgers tracked the strapping passer all season long and he’s been on Schiano’s radar since his junior year. Ex-Rutgers offensive coordinator went to Iona Prep to watch Sheppard throw last spring, and Sheppard ultimately returned the favor, resulting in his first Power Five offer and budding Big Ten career.MORE FROM TODDERICK HUNT
