U.S. stocks finished mostly lower on Wednesday with the S&P 500 logging its lowest end-of-date level since September, while the Nasdaq Composite logged its lowest such level since July.

The Dow DJIA, +0.12% advanced 36.31 points, or 0.1%, to finish at 29,239.19
