Sam Smith cancels Glasgow and Birmingham shows as singer left heartbroken
A devastated Sam Smith has been forced to cancel more gigs amid serious concerns for the singer's health. The music superstar had to cut short their Manchester gig last night with fans sent home after just a handful of songs were performed.
Posting on Instagram, the Unholy singer shared a statement which said: "DUE TO VOCAL ISSUES DURING LAST NIGHT'S MANCHESTER PERFORMANCE, REGRETTABLY WE WILL BE CANCELLING THE RESCHEDULED BIRMINGHAM AND GLASGOW SAM SMITH SHOWS. REFUNDS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT POINT OF PURCHASE FOR ALL THREE DATES; MANCHESTER, BIRMINGHAM AND GLASGOW.
"A SPOKESPERSON SAID 'DOCTORS HAVE ADVISED DUE TO A VOCAL CORD INJURY, SAM MUST HAVE COMPLETE VOCAL REST. SAM IS HEARTBROKEN TO HAVE HAD TO CANCEL THESE SHOWS BUT THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD BY DOCTORS THAT IF THEY KEEP SINGING, THEY WILL DO PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THEIR VOICE. IF THEY TAKE SOME REST THEY WILL BE ABLE TO PERFORM AGAIN."
It left fans in the arena confused over what had happened with some concluding it was down to a technical hitch. It came just hours after it had been teased that Madonna was going to join them on stage.
