A San Antonio man faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to providing the fentanyl that killed a woman. Patrick James Hall, 28, was charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl resulting in death. He pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday. The Department of Justice said Hall met with a 20-year-old woman in a hotel room on Oct. 28, 2020, where he sold her the fentanyl in a blue pill form, disguised as oxycodone. Phone records showed that the woman was unconscious in the hotel room for some time before Hall returned a missed call to the victim's friend on her cellphone.
He allegedly told the friend that she needed to come pick up the victim because she had overdosed. Hall never called 911 to help the victim, the DOJ said. When the friend arrived with emergency-medical services, the woman was dead. Officials at the scene noted that she had been dead for some time.
