The Stop AAPI Hate group, based in San Francisco, has reported over 10,000 incidents of hateful activity from March 2020 through September 2021, according to the AP. Last October, the FBI reported that anti-Asian hate crimes rose nationally by at least 76 percent in 2020, with 279 incidents reported compared to 158 in 2019, according to ABC News.
The FBI data reported by ABC News stated that about 60 percent of the hate crimes committed in the U.S. in 2020 were based on the race of the victim.
