The incident happened Monday night at Central Park.
SAN MATEO – A 12-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of stabbing another boy Monday night at Central Park in San Mateo, police said.
The incident happened around 8:20 p.m. at the park, located at 50 East 5th Avenue, the San Mateo Police Department said in a statement. Officers arrived to find a 15-year-old boy suffering from at least one stab wound to the left side of his body.Following the stabbing, the suspect rode away from the scene on a bicycle, police said.
An investigation revealed the victim and the suspect knew each other, and officers were able to identity the suspect, police said. Officers located and interviewed a number of witnesses while searching for the suspect. He was ultimately found walking in the 800 block of North Humboldt Street.The case remains under investigation and police are searching for footage of the incident.
