SANTA CRUZ — A young woman who was found dead near a Santa Cruz beach after a midnight swim has been identified as a Pacific Collegiate School senior.
According to the Santa Cruz Police Department, emergency responders were called out for a water rescue at 12:02 a.m. Sunday at Its Beach, near Lighthouse Point. An 18-year-old man had emerged from the water shortly before, telling witnesses that he and Clark had gone for a swim and that he was unable to find her.
Results of an autopsy and toxicology tests were pending, Bush said, but investigators believed the death to be “an unfortunate and tragic accident,” he said.
