Would it be incredible to have restaurant-quality pizza right from your back garden any time you want? Gozney's Roccbox promises to make all pizza lovers' dreams come true with a portable oven that cooks dough and melts cheese in a matter of minutes. If it sounds too good to be true, we wondered the same, which is why we got our hands on the cooker to give it a test for ourselves as complete cooking amateurs.
Back to the details. The Roccbox has a few key features that make it convenient and clever. Firstly, and quite uniquely, It's portable with retractable legs, a detachable burner and a built-in thermometer. It also reaches temperatures of up to 500°C, has a thick stone floor, dense insulation and a unique rolling flame.
Roccbox review As we say, we tested the oven as complete amateurs with no chef ability. The only thing we did have is an enthusiasm for eating good pizza and the ability to knock up a relatively good dough. The actual building of the cooker was also incredibly simple, as it comes almost fully constructed. It also heats up quickly – in around 20 minutes – so you're not waiting ages for it to reach the needed heat. It did take us a few goes to get the temperature just right, to not burn the back bit of the pizza and leave the middle raw, but after a few practice goes we had it relatively nailed.
