Joe Stratton' genius stunt has forced a U-turn by teachers on the uniform policy with his proud parents hailing him as a 'legend'
A 15-year-old boy who bravely wore a skirt to school in the recent heatwave because rules said he wasn't allowed to wear shorts has been hailed a "legend" after forcing a uniform U-turn.
He returned to school after the summer break on Tuesday in his school shorts but was shut down and told they were for summer term only. The Year 11 pupil was informed that the policy meant he had the choice of trousers or a skirt. He opted for the latter and wore a skirt to school last Wednesday and Thursday to beat the summer heatwave. He also planned to do so, if needed, "every day that he felt too hot to wear trousers", his mum, Jo Suleyman, said.
Joe’s dad, Ronnie Stratton, described his son as a "legend" and said he is "extremely proud" of the youngster who attends Stafford School in Caterham. He said: "At first, he thought he was going to get ridiculed and have the mickey taken out of him.
