The Met Office has issued two weather warnings in Scotland as Storm Betty could bring dangerous gusts.

Scotland has been issued two weather warnings ahead of very strong winds associated with Storm Betty.

On Saturday, a larger rain warning stretching from south west Scotland to the north east is in effect from 3am. The heavy downpours across the country will be accompanied by 'strong and gusty' winds as high as 40mph.The Met Office weather warning reads: "Very strong and gusty winds, associated with Storm Betty, bringing some disruption to transport, travel and temporary infrastructure.

The strongest winds will hit south to southwest facing coasts where gusts of 60-70 mph are possible, whilst gusts of 45-55 mph are possible elsewhere. "Heavy rain brings the potential for some disruption on Saturday morning," says the Met Office warning.
