Scotland 's first safe drug consumption facility could launch as early as this summer, and will offer a comfortable recovery room for those battling addiction. The Daily Record was granted a first look inside the Gallowgate, Glasgow site yesterday as construction of this "huge milestone" project commenced. Building work might take up to 24 weeks, possibly running into late August. However, it is hoped the build can be completed quicker to start saving lives sooner.
The building plans include eight "injecting booths", where people can use drugs under medical supervision, helping to avoid fatal overdoses. Additionally, the facility will have a large "aftercare" area. This includes a cafe with hot food and drinks, comfortable seating, and maybe even a TV, reports the Daily Record
