Joe Brown was serving an eight-year sentence for trying to kill kill Arthur Innes with a chainsaw when he was caught with cocaine at Perth Prison in February.
A 'horror movie' chainsaw attacker who tried to murder a random golfer has had his prison term extended after being caught behind bars with over £1,000 worth of cocaine.
Solicitor Jim Laverty, defending, said: "The background is that he had been working towards a parole hearing in May 2023. However, he was advised in December 2022 that there was a course he was required to complete. Top news stories today Brown, from Glasgow, was jailed in October 2018 after he admitted trying to murder Mr Innes with a chainsaw in the city's Caird Park. The victim was scarred for life.
Brown walked up to him and stated: "Madness is in the eyes." He was described as "smiling" with his eyes "bulging" as he immediately started the chainsaw and swept it down towards Mr Innes.Prosecutor Owen Mullan said: "Brown again struck Mr Innes with the chainsaw, scraping it down the right side of his head and top of his right shoulder." Wounded Mr Innes managed to barge Brown away, and he then fled the scene after dropping the chainsaw.
