Police Scotland is to introduce a survey so criminals can rate their stay after spending the night in the cells.
One angry officer told the Record he was "beyond embarrassed", which he compared to a hotel stay. He said: "I'm beyond embarrassed. We are bringing people into the cells because they've either committed a crime, are suspected of committing one, or can help us with an inquiry. Another officer said: "We're too busy worrying what folk think of their experience in custody to actually do the job right. Morale is rock bottom, and stuff like this doesn't make it any easier. I can't believe it. I'm shocked it's being brought in."
Scottish Conservative deputy justice spokesperson Sharon Dowey MSP said: "I think the public will see this as another example of the SNP's skewed approach to criminal justice, in which the interests of offenders are put before those of victims.
