The body of Donald Patience, known as Prentice, was found by officers responding to reports of a white labradoodle being taken from his home on Tuesday, August 22.
A Scots dad who was found dead following an alleged dognapping burglary told neighbours that items had been stolen from his house just months earlier. The body of Donald Patience, known as Prentice, was found by officers responding to reports of a white labradoodle being taken from the home on Tuesday, August 22.
Those living near the scene have spoken of their shock and horror at what had happened. One told the Manchester Evening News that several months ago, Mr Patience had posted a note through neighbours' doors regarding thefts at his home. In the note, he said he "heard a girl and two males were seen removing items, but could be misinformed. It would probably look like I was moving out and I was wondering if anyone saw anything." He shared his phone number and a crime reference number in the note in which he also wished them "all the best for 2023."
"A guy from CID came that morning and was asking questions. But we couldn't help as we didn't see or hear anything. We found out later that day someone had died. I am just absolutely disgusted. Sickened. It's scary and very sad. This is too close to home." One nearby resident said he had seen police activity at the property in the past. "As soon as I saw the police I thought 'something has gone on there'. And they have been here 24/7 since. It's obviously a shame when anyone loses their life, no matter what. But the fact they have arrested three people is reassuring at least."
Detective Chief Inspector Rachel Smith, of GMP's Major Incident Team, earlier said: "First, as a force, we would like to pass on our condolences to Donald's loved ones at this extremely distressing time, we are doing all we can to get the answers they deserve and find out what has happened.
