The Alzheimer's blood test could spot the disease early
A new "transformative" blood test that would detect Alzheimer's disease early could be developed by Scottish scientists.
Scottish Brain Sciences founder Craig Ritchie is "delighted" that the global leader in diagnostic technology has chosen to work with his firm, calling it a "huge vote of confidence in the Scottish life sciences sector". The work aims to provide a better understanding of the earliest biological changes of the neurodegenerative disease using blood based bio-markers. It comes as more recent evidence has suggested changes could take place in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients before symptoms of the disease are present.
