Four-year-old Lyla McCullagh looked utterly shattered after coming home from her first day at St Mark's Primary in Barrhead last year.
Children across Scotland returned to school last week, with many starting their education journey for the first time. But pictures shared by one mum of her wee girl's first day last year will be etched in our memories forever.
In the photos, which were shared with the Record, Lyla is pictured in the morning looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, dressed immaculately in her new uniform and ready to take on the day. "I was excited for her to go in, though, because she hadn't stopped talking about it all summer. She kept saying she didn't want to go to nursery anymore, she was ready for school. I think if she had been upset, it would have been different for me."
