The police department received a call about a domestic disturbance regarding a person with a gun around 6:45 p.m.
Officers arrived around 6:50 p.m. and the shooting happened almost immediately upon arrival, officials say.The department is in communication with Scottsdale Unified School District, as the shooting happened near an elementary school. Although the area is restricted due to the investigation, the department does not anticipate that the school will be impacted in the morning.
