It has been a wild day for Texas' controversial immigration law, Senate Bill 4.It started with the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals reversing a lower court's deci

that halted SB 4 from taking effect. The Biden administration then appealed the ruling to the US Supreme Court-- which responded Monday afternoon by temporarily freezing enforcement of the controversial law.“This is the worst kind of divisive politics that we’ve seen when people said the Irish were going to destroy America and the Italians and the Jews. All of that was false,” said Domingo Garcia, the national president of the League of United Latin American Citizens, or LULAC.

Meantime, Governor Greg Abbott t defended his border policies to CBS News Sixty Minutes Sunday night. Abbott said he, as governor, can control entry and exit to the state of Texas and that the state is merely enforcing federal law. The Border Network for Human Rights is planning another protest of SB4 for Saturday, the day before the law was originally slated to go into effect.

“We’re going to continue pushing for the repeal of SB 4,” said the network’s leader, Fernando Garcia. “On that day, on March 9th, we’re going to have the largest demonstration in Austin Texas. We’re going to march and rally at the Capitol, protesting SB 4.”to the people who might be the most affected by SB 4 – that they do not have to answer questions, that they have the right to silence and the right to an attorney.
