Shane Mobley, pictured in 2020, led Sealy to two regional semifinal appearances during his six seasons coaching the Tigers.Sealy athletic director and head football coach Shane Mobley has resigned, Sealy Independent School District officials confirmed Wednesday.
Mobley stepped down from his position after leading the Tigers to a 49-21 record over the past six seasons. He took them to the playoffs in five of those years, including a pair of regional semifinal appearances in 2018 and 2020. Sealy finished over .500 all five seasons under Mobley and went 7-5 last season, placing third in District 10-4A and reaching the area round.
Overall, Mobley has amassed a career record of 95-37 in 11 seasons. He landed his first head coaching gig at Sweetwater, where he led the program to a 46-16 record and three playoff appearances in five seasons, including a trip to the Class 4A state title game against West Orange-Stark in 2016. Mobley previously served as the defensive coordinator under Kent Jackson at Sweetwater from 2004-07 and also made stops at Prosper, which won a state championship in 2008, and at Sonora, a state champion in 2010.
