Everton manager Sean Dyche has addressed the club's situation in the summer transfer window

Sean Dyche believes Everton is still a powerful name when attracting players in the transfer market as he looks forward to acknowledging a season of progress - on the field at least - after their final home game against Sheffield United.

“I think the fact that some of the younger players have come through, not from the academy, but Jarrad and James Garner and have developed and Myko has developed and Patto has been unfortunate but is still developing under the radar. I think there is still a belief from some players that they see players moving through that system.

The final day in 2020 was played behind closed doors due to coronavirus restrictions while in 2021 the 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers was watched by a restricted attendance of just 6,068 home fans. Dyche said: “I think for this season it’s been well-earned for starters, for both parties so I think it will be a nice thing to do.

“But I think it is very helpful, whatever fans think across the country, if you stand by the team as long as you can. Trust me, I’ve been a player, a coach and a manager, it is incredibly helpful if the crowd stay connected, it’s just something that I absolutely know to be true.”
