The day care in Seattle’s Central District hit by gunfire in a drive-by shooting Monday is now working with city leaders and others to keep families safe.

"I know the family personally. I grew up with the family," Mayor Harell told KOMO News outside the day care Tuesday. "This kind of violence- this gun violence is completely unacceptable.""I don’t like thinking about that I may need bulletproof windows in this area. That should be one of the last things I’m thinking about when I’m giving good quality care," said Appollonia Washington, Co-Owner of A for Apple Learning Center.
The day care owners said it’s unfortunate the city has not responded to their crime concerns until this incident, and also wants more support from her council member Kshama Sawant.
