Security guard fires shot at carjacker who stole woman’s car while getting gas in River North: police
A carjacker who took off with a woman’s car while she was getting gas slammed into her leg, injuring her Tuesday evening in the River North neighborhood, Chicago police said.
At about 6:45 p.m., the 34-year-old had left her driver’s side door open while she filled up at the BP, 631 N. La Salle Drive, when somebody jumped into her car, smashing the woman’s leg and fleeing west in the vehicle, police said.An armed security guard in the parking lot fired shots at the attacker, but no gunshot victims were reported.
The woman, who suffered a laceration to her knee and declined medical attention, and the security guard were not immediately available Wednesday afternoon.The woman’s car was later found in the 6600 block of South Champlain Avenue in the city’s West Woodlawn neighborhood, according to police.
