Tue, October 3rd 2023, 11:08 PM UTCThe Sedro Woolley man who committed a hate crime by setting fire to Queer/Bar, a Seattle nightclub, in 2020 has been sentenced to prison.
"This sentence should send the message that every person in our nation deserves equal protection under the law regardless of who they love or how they identify and that those carrying out similar acts of violence against the LGBTQI+ community will be brought to justice,” said Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division.
Garcia admitted to authorities that he willfully attempted to cause bodily injury to the occupants of Queer/Bar using fire because of their actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity.Sedro Woolley man pleads guilty to hate crime for setting fire at Queer/Bar in Seattle
