THE SENEGALESE government has repatriated 76 of its citizens from Tunisia and neighboring Libya following recent controversial commentsby Tunisian President Kais Saied. Officials did not provide any details on the exact number of individuals repatriated from either country. There was also no explanation as to why Senegalese nationals residing in Libya were brought back home.Senegal’s move follows the swift action taken by other African countries to repatriate its citizens who were living in Tunisia, In recent weeks special charter flights have been scheduled to return hundreds of citizens of Ivory Coast, Mali and Guinea to their home countries.
Senegalese President Macky Sall recently revealed that he had met President Saied for talks on a range of issues.
