Pasadena ISD varsity baseball tourney gets under way Thursday
Two years ago, this dramatic tag attempt at home plate took place during the Pasadena ISD Baseball Tournament. The event returns Thursday for a new three-day stay at Maguire Field and three PISD campuses.Things are getting a bit more serious on the high school baseball diamonds these days. That’s what happens when the calendar flips to the month of March.
A total of 17 teams will be invading the campuses of Pasadena Memorial, Dobie, South Houston along with Maguire Field as each are scheduled to get four contests. MacArthur’s roster features Ryan Dollar, a pitcher/shortstop, who is ranked among Flat Bill Baseball/Texas High School Baseball’s top 50 players in the state.
South Houston High School will be the site of Pool C and it will feature the Trojans, Pasadena-First Baptist Christian Academy, Goose Creek Memorial and Galena Park. FBCA’s roster will have a handful of returners back but there’s also big holes. The biggest is the departure of Brayden Evans, who is now playing ball at Wharton Junior College.
