Both Trentbarton and Nottingham City Transport have raised concerns about changes to the road
Bus passengers are being warned of "severe" delays in Nottingham today as congestion caused by changes to Maid Marian Way continues. The opening of a new T-junction in the area in early October saw Nottingham City Transport releasing a statement saying that it had "strong concerns" about the changes to Maid Marian Way.
The overall redevelopment of the road is set to be completed by spring 2025. Maid Marian Way users can now turn right straight onto Upper Parliament Street instead of going around a roundabout. Other changes include drivers coming from Mount Street being able to turn right, south down Maid Marian Way, instead of having to turn left and go around the roundabout to come back down.
Posting about the latest delays on social media at around 3.40pm on Saturday afternoon, Trentbarton said: "It appears the roadworks taking place at Maid Marian Way are starting to take effect once again. Please be advised that our Two, Rainbowone, Redarrow, Indigo and i4 services may become severely delayed into the afternoon. Please allow extra time to travel."
Despite this, Trentbarton earlier this week shared that changes made have had an overall "positive" impact on congestion. Nottingham City Council has said it is at a "difficult" point of the Maid Marian Way project, being funded by a Government grant scheme. The authority says the current congestion "does not reflect the final situation", when pedestrian crossings will work differently and when there will be an extra lane of traffic from Upper Parliament Street to the junction.
