Starter Alex Wood gives up eight earned runs in three innings as Giants fall in Minnesota.
The question of whether the Giants can still make the playoffs is taking a back seat to the possibility they won’t finish the 2022 season with a winning record.
Carlos Correa hit a two-run home run for the Twins against Wood in the first inning, his 14th of the season, with Gary Sanchez adding a two-run shot in the six-run third. In the eighth, the Giants sent out catcher Austin Wynns to pitch, and Kyle Garlick closed out the scoring with a solo home run, his ninth of the season.
Giants manager Gabe Kapler felt Wood was working at his normal rapid pace but giving up but hasn’t been precise with his strikes.
