MLB: San Franciso Giants manager Gabe Kapler said Brandon Crawford appears to be on track to play Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers
SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford said last week that he intended on starting this weekend when he’s eligible to come off the injured list, and manager Gabe Kapler didn’t disabuse anyone of that notion Monday.
“Obviously, there’s a few more steps to take to make sure that he’s healthy enough to take on that last game of the season,” Kapler said. “But it’s certainly within the realm of possibility and something that we’re working towards. Obviously, it would mean a lot to Giants fans, a lot to Brandon, his family, and all of us as well.”
Crawford is in the final year of a two-year, $32 million contract he signed with the Giants in Aug. 2021, and Sunday’s game might be the last with the organization and possibly his career. Crawford, 36, hasn’t decided whether he will retire or perhaps try to sign with another team if the Giants do not offer him another contract.. “I don’t have an answer. But I’ve had plenty of thoughts.”
