Students from San Francisco public high schools walked out of classrooms on Wednesday in support of Palestine and called for an end to the ongoing violence in Gaza.
Ronen, who is Jewish, said she cannot stay silent as she “watches the Israeli military commit genocide in our name.” “We feel the impact of the Islamophobia and racism that our students and families are facing right here in San Francisco,” AROC Executive Director Lara Kiswani said. “There is a large Arab, Muslim and Palestinian population here; they are going to school every day, feeling the gravity of this moment.”
